Scanner KILLED it. O: I'm mad...but still. I love it.
So I was reading this really cool magazine called Fashion Rocks!, which is basically a rock fashion magazine, and I came to this photoshoot section called 'In My Tribe' that had these six models posing outside in four different scenes that represent the 4 fashion cults: punk, goth, rave and mod. I thought it was really cool and was also really bored, and decided to make it a collage. So I chose my favorite model from each cult and put it on the collage, cut out the descriptions, too, and found other stuff in the same magazine to fill in the spaces. (About the happy little Disney birds: I have no idea why I put em there, either xD) Then there were more blank spots, so i made them fancy and colored with highlighter...but it didn't exactly come out pretty on the comp, for some reason. The orange looks pukey and the yellow looks like pee. And the pink is...not...bright pink. Waaah. D:
But it does look pretty in real life. Trust me. Linz knows. She sawded it O:
And because I know you can't read the fine print, here we go:
PUNK: It hasn't changed much since the seventies, when Vivienne Westwood, the doyenne of DIY fashion, perfected the devil-may-care style of this British subculture. The look is cannonized here with tartans, ripped fishnets, latex leggings, and aggressive-looking jewelry.
GOTH: They say it began as a gloomy, introspective alternative to glossy pop tunes. Here, its drama is spellbinding, and its darkness is palpable.
RAVE: To some, it's a madcap explosion of neon and plastic; an animated celebration of phsycadelic ecstasy; a club kid's Technicolor dream. To those in the know, it's just another Acid House Summer of Love.
MOD: In this squad, scooters are as important as a pair of striped stovepipes; and they're as much a vehicle for style as the slim suits and shiny Quadrophenia-esque spectator loafers that walked the King's Road circa 1960.
D: ... too many big words o.o
anyway...from punk I like the plaid, fishnets and some of the jewelry; from goth...um, well, I guess the color black? and skulls, I guess...; from rave, teh COLORS!!! and the fancy jewelry and makeup; from mod, the skinny jeans/pants or whatever. And I guess my hair's scene, but that doesn't really fit into any of the four xD Okay, mom's yelling at me to get off the internet, so yah O:
Models, Four Cults of Fashion idea, cult desriptions, and all of the pictures here is (c) Fashion Rocks! magazine
I just love collages! xD
We did these really awesome Pop Art collage/ink drawings in school and they wouldn't let me take it home. Which is really annoying because we were in the last year of that school. D<
I know me too O: I'm like obsessed with em now, they're fun. I made lotsa crappy but nonetheless fun ones when I was like seven and now I do it once and am suddenly like HOLY JEZUZ DIS IS FUN 8D
Aww that sucks. I wonder why not? Was it real good? Cuz if it was they probably just wanted it keep it for a sample. That's what my art teacher (although when school starts in a week I'll be in Adv. Art for da whole 8th grade - w00t :]) did back in 6th grade. She took my painting for a sample when we did color themes, like you had to choose a color and paint a pic using all the shades of that color. Mine was frikin cool, and was of a lion mama with her cub :3 and the yellow-green-ness made it look preeeetty...I WANT IT BAAAAAAACK D:
I'm not sure about the collage, I did a surrealist pencil drawing on the theme of 'Music Man' which now lives in the school visitor's office, which is pretty kewl, but I'd like to put that on my dA because it was the best coloured pencil drawing I've done. And it was hyyyaaaauge. Something like A2 paper. YAY GIANT PAPER!
I normally only do collages when my sister Alice is around, because she's awesome at them. And I'm sort of nervous about cutting up my precious stash of 'Q' Magasines.
Because once I took out a picture of Bob Dylan to put on my wall, and then realised that on the other side was the middle of a really interesting article.
maybe you should go to da school and take a picture of the drawing, then upload it onto here? I dunno.
xD Ya that happens. But really, all that happened here was the pic of the mod girl cut into an article on fashion icons, but it was the icon I didn't really care for xD I only liked the one of that girl from Blondie. Debbie Harry? I forget. Ah well. I need to get another Fashion Rocks! mag. Those are cool.
DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The Deviousness Award is an accolade which is traditionally handed out on the 1st of every month to one trully outstanding deviant. `Cyantre is one of the most helpful deviants within our community. With a positive attitude and a resourceful mind, you can always find him providing support and encouragement to those in need. Always looking for ways in which he can get more involved in our community, John's positive presence is to be aspired to. A well respected poet, John is a must-have on your deviantWATCH to make sure that you don't miss out on your dose of community inspiration. It's with great pleasure that the Deviousness Award for November 2009 goes to... Read More
